Backstory (Origin Story)
Born in Rwanda during the violent civil war of the 1990s, Makoti Banzwai grew up in the slums. At just seven years old, his mother, Shakita Banzwai, was killed in crossfire during a Tutsi–Hutu clash. His father, Mwenye Shauku Banzwai, fled with him to Nairobi, Kenya, where they lived as refugees.
Makoti struggled with poverty, working from the age of 17 in an emerald mine controlled by the British government, which exploited African workers for profit.
One fateful day, the mine collapsed. Buried beneath the rubble, Makoti prayed to his ancestors for strength. In the darkness, he discovered a glowing black-and-yellow emerald, radiating immense heat and energy. When he touched it, the stone bonded with his heart, fusing with his body in a massive explosion.
Instead of dying, Makoti was reborn with superhuman abilities. His body transformed, gaining strength, speed, and heightened intelligence. A living emerald suit of energy formed around him, making him nearly indestructible.
Guided by ancestral visions, Makoti vowed to protect his people, free Africa from exploitation, and use his newfound gifts to heal, defend, and inspire hope.
